Information for people interested in making hpoj work on Darwin and Mac OS X: The latest hpoj code in CVS should theoretically support USB on these platforms now, thanks to libusb. However, this hasn't been tested yet. The main remaining issues are with making hpoj build and install cleanly. At one time Robert Monaghan was working on adding automake and libtool support to hpoj to this end, but he seems to have disappeared without finishing it (his e-mail address bounces now). I don't currently have time to finish this myself, but here I have posted several messages I got from Robert with his preliminary results at various times, in order to help other people who are interested in doing some hacking to make this work. IMPORTANT: These patches and tarballs likely will not work out-of-the box without lots of additional work. At a minimum, they need to be merged or forward-ported to the latest CVS code which contains the above-mentioned libusb support. If you do anything with these, please post any results, questions, and improvements to the hpoj-devel mailing list, as there are several other subscribers who are interested in getting this to work. UPDATED March 27, 2003: Tim Regovich has provided an update, which I have posted here. Good luck! :-) -- David Paschal
