Older versions of the hpoj software

Important: These outdated versions of the software are listed here for historical purposes only. You should download the latest stable version instead.

  • hpoj-0.90.tgz
    • Added new "hpoj" SANE backend for scanning on all supported models (now including the OfficeJet LX and 300 series).
    • Added photo-card reader support for HP PhotoSmart printers and all-in-ones with this capability.
    • Added support for CUPS (Common Unix Printing System) printing.
    • Added partial FreeBSD support (parallel-port and JetDirect but not yet USB connections).
    • Improved ease of use, especially with device management and scanning.
    • Improved setup and reference documentation.
    • Numerous bug fixes and smaller enhancements.

  • hpoj-0.8.tgz
Added USB support and improved the parallel-port and JetDirect support. Added command-line scanning application for LaserJets and scrollfed OfficeJets not yet supported by SANE. Updated the xojpanel application appearance, and added the ability for it to co-exist with other applications or copies of itself. Improved the installation process and documentation.

  • hpoj-0.7.tgz
Fixed bugs in low-level drivers relating to scan lockups, module unloading, SMP, and 2.4 kernels. Introduced new "ptal-printd" daemon that simplifies printing setup. Updated xojpanel application.

  • hpoj-0.6.tgz
Added scanning support (via SANE) for flatbed OfficeJets. Added basic driver support for LaserJet 1100A. Fixed kernel drivers so they compile on Alpha Linux.

  • hpoj-0.5.tgz
Fixed reported signaling problems and driver lockups. Fixed (hopefully) build problems. Added new "PTAL" (peripheral transport abstraction library). Builds with reduced functionality if Linux kernel source or QT is missing.

  • hpoj-0.4.tgz
Improved the programming library API. The build process uses an autoconf generated configuration script now. A few bugfixes in the kernel drivers. A lot of improvements in the command line application. The ieee12844_print application now also uses the programming library.

  • hpoj-0.3.tgz
Bugfixes in the kernel drivers, in the programming library and in the applications; build process is much cleaner now. The kernel drivers should now work with both kernel version 2.2.x and 2.3.x.

  • hpoj-0.2.tgz
Some bugfixes in the kernel drivers, added a little Qt application which displays the contents of the LC display on the desktop.

  • hpoj-0.1.tgz
An intermediate release which has not been officially announced.

  • hpoj-0.0.tgz
The first official release of the OfficeJet for Linux package.
